The Section Charter
In 2003, OCITE was established and a charter was created for the chapter. The charter outlines the purpose of the chapter, its area of influence, membership approval and board official election procedures. In 2020, OSITE became a Section. The original Chapter Charter and the new Section Charter are provided below.

Chapter Policies
As established in the original chapter by-laws, the organization is run by its seven member board of direction. In order to provide greater specificity to Section operations as it relates to board leadership, OSITE developed a set of policies. These policies help lay a foundation for each position on the board helping to outline the responsibilities each board member has while serving in Section leadership.

The OneITE Initiative
In early 2018, the ITE International board had discussions about the structure of the entire ITE organization (from the international board all the way down to the chapter level). The discussion spurred a new ITE initiative to review the effectiveness of its current structure. The initiative (referred to as the “ONE ITE Task Force”) was created to develop a singular ITE experience that provided enhanced continuity throughout the entire organization.
The result was a revision to the definitions for each level of organizational leadership below the international level (District, Section, Chapter). By refining the definitions, many ITE Chapters (like OCITE) now moreso aligned with the characteristics of a Section rather than a Chapter and therefore changed its designation. OCITE (now OSITE) created a OneITE Committee in 2019 to help with said transition and now operates under this new title.
Now that OSITE is a Section, membership dues structures may change in the future. Basic OSITE membership is still $10 per year per professional and $9 per year per professional for each additional professional from the same organization.
However, ITE membership will be highly encouraged. Being a member of ITE provides numerous benefits including access to ITE's online professional transportation resources, voting rights in all ITE elections, ability to join board leadership at any level and discounts to various ITE publications, to name a few.
